This is The "Miners Pail"
from Gem Mountain

New easier to ship size! The mine owners have concentrated the gravel even more than before, removing all of the large rocks. You get the same sapphire yield as before, just in a smaller package.
The Miners Pail contains approximately 3 pounds of raw concentrated gravel from the famed Gem Mountain Region, near Philipsburg, Montana. It comes in this handy bucket that you can keep your extra gravel in or use any way you want when you are finished. It also come with washing instructions for your gravel, information on having your stones evaluated by the Gem Mountain Mine and faceting information.
The gravel from this region tends to be covered in mud and sand when it arrives, and that is how you get it. It does not have the fossil content or various minerals of the El dorado Bar gravel we sell. What it lacks in interesting rocks and fossils, it more than makes up for it in the amount of sapphires found and their bright colors. There is no guaranteed add of sapphire to this pail, but you will not be disappointed. The mine owners have said you will find at least 20 carats of sapphire in each pail. Customers have been yielding an average of 20 - 30 carats, of beautifully colored, clean, but small sapphire. Lots of fun for all ages.
The sapphires from the Gem Mountain Region near Philipsburg traditionally are about the size of a pea or smaller. They are usually round in shape. Although larger stones can be found, most are under 1 carat in size. They can be found in all the colors of the rainbow. The most common colors are blues, greens & clear, but reds, pinks, yellows, oranges and violets are also commonly found. These sapphires also usually are very clear in their quality. Very few heavily included stones are found. Our largest sapphire find to date from this region was 6.75 ct. violet and pink in color.
Like any type of treasure hunt, you never know exactly what you will find. We do not search this gravel. These buckets are filled directly at the mine and sealed there. We get them directly from the mine. So we have no idea what could be in each pail, but many people have found some remarkable gems. Just look at our feedback!

All you need to start your home sapphire mining treasure hunt.....
A fine wire strainer, tweezers, a spray bottle, something to hold your find in like a baggy or plastic vial, and something like a kitchen cutting board to search on (white works best).
First empty a small amount of gravel into your strainer (about 1/2 cup) and rinse it well with water to get off all of the dirt.
Now flip your cleaned gravel onto your search surface and look thru it slowly for your sapphire. The sapphire will be shiny and have a glass like appearance. As the gravel drys, spray it with some water to give it that wet look which make them easier to find. Have patience and save your gravel to go thru a second time, even experienced people can miss some now and then.
It is much easier to find your sapphire with bright sunlight but do not wear sunglasses as they can make it very hard to see the sparkle of the raw stones.
We hope that all this information is enough to get you started on your way to finding your sapphire treasure. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to email us!
