| This is a beautiful piece of the Esquel meteorite. This meteorite was found in Chubut, Argentina in 1951. A single large mass of over 700 kilograms was found by a farmer bulldozing a cattle water tank.
This meteorite is a stony-iron meteorite, Pallasite (PAL). The Pallasites are a mixture of nickel-iron and olivine crystals. They formed very deep near the core-mantle boundary in a planetary sized body. They are without a doubt the most beautiful of the meteorites, and Esquel is the undisputed king of the Pallasites, extremely stable, and perfect translucent green crystals. This specimen weighs 0.415 gram and is a beautiful partslice of emerald green olivine crystal. This is a nice MICRO specimen for any collection. The cube in the photo measures 1 cm. It is for measurement purposes only and not included in the auction. I am a meteorite dealer and fully gaurantee the authenticity of every meteorite and tektite specimen I sell. Be sure to see me in the March 1999 issue of the Smithsonian Magazine, I am featured in an article about meteorite hunters! I am also featured in Fortune Small Business magazine.
