Talk about old school. I can't believe I keep these things around so long. eBayincarnation time!
So, here's a used Motorola V265 cell phone, branded for Verizon Wireless networks, with all sorts of accessories to spice things up. From the pics, you'll get it all...
- Motorola V265 (upgraded to V265m, so that it supports custom MP3 ringtones using the Motorola Phone Tools software without having to purchase them through Verizon. I couldn't fathom paying $1 to do something I can do it 15 seconds.) Includes all original documentation and media, and of course, a working battery. The camera also takes pictures, but really, is this even necssary? All buttons intact and crust-free.
- Three (3) AC wall chargers. Apparently, I collected these over time.
- One (1) Motorola corded earpiece with built-in "button." Fancy. Actually, the button was a nice a feature because it could access the phone's built-in voice recognition to call stored contacts. Even better was you didn't need to record a name for each contact...the phone has a built-in pronunciation processor to build phonetics--haha, get it?--for text entries. Does that make the sense? The earpiece is lacking the fuzzy...condom...?...but I suspect you can buy these anywhere, or just steal the back-up fuzzies from your iPod headphones.
- One (1) 12V DC car charger. More power to you.
- One (1) Original Motorola PhoneTools (MPT) software package, which includes a phone dock, Motorola USB data cable, original installation CD, and instruction manuals. You can even have the original box. Now, I keep throwing "original" in there because 1) this is a legit CD, and I don't have a copy of it anywhere because I don't have any Moto phones, and 2) many other non-Motorola cables required lots of effort to get working (trust me). The software version itself is old school (Version 3.0), and I think current version is 4.x.something. Fortunately, the software has a upgrade feature, which (as of the last time I used this about 8 months ago) updated to the newest version for free. Assuming that's gone unchanged, the process isn't too difficult (with caveats, see below).
- One (1) belt-clip-holster. So you can be cool, too.
The phone was tested today and works fine. It's cleared and reset, so all my juicy information will not fall into the wrong hands. All the accessories work, too. The phone shows some wear, nicks, but it's never been exposed to moisture (the dots are still white...um, Motorola-speak saying the water-damage tamper dots haven't changed from white to pink when exposed to moisture). The phone is a definite "classic" compared to today's phones, but it does what it needs to. Obviously, you'll need to have Verizon to make this work, technically...and if you are an existing Verizon customer, I would check to see if they still support this phone because I would have no clue. (For my sake, I hope they do.)
A little bit about the MPT software...great little software for syncing contacts, music, pictures, etc. In a pinch, it will also allow you to use your phone as a modem for your computer, which was GREAT for a laptop user that couldn't find a stray wifi signal (me). (Last time I used this feature, it was counted as regular minutes on my Verizon plan...I don't know if this has changed.) It installs on most Windows operating systems, and loads a skin that looks like the phone (pictures below). You can type up text messages through it to send to your peeps, receive, manage the phone, charge, use it as a modem, whatever. Neat package. I'll be honest to say the version updates don't go as smoothly as they should...but my best suggestion when installing it is to install first, do all the updates (there are a couple), THEN connect and configure the phone after all the updates. The software, overall, is a sweet accessory to the phone for use with a computer.
That's about it. Obviously, I couldn't detail everything (you wouldn't want me to anyway...as you can see, I get wordy). But, definitely feel free to ask questions. For what I'm asking in bids, any of the items alone are worth it. Turn the phone into a glowing paperweight for all I care, add my chargers to your already-growing collection, or buy it for the software. Sounds like a win-win to me.
How I roll: Items shipped UPS Ground unless requested otherwise (and cost adjusted accordingly). PayPal preferred. Item is listed as tested and working, but is sold as-is with no option for return because I need the closet space this was occupying forever. Any doubts, please check the feedback and ask questions. I'm so cool. Cheers.
