Here for your consideration is a rare slice of liddicoatite tourmaline.  Liddicoatite is named after Richard T. Liddicoat, the "father of modern gemology" and one of the people responsible for making the GIA what it is today.  What makes this tourmaline liddicoatite is that it is calcium rich.  This slice is from Madagascar.  It was cut from an alluvial crystal and retains its natural shape.  This liddicoatite forms with triangles in the center.

This slice measures 18 mm X 14 mm X 3 mm.  This slice is clear to light green on the outside with a purple triangle in the middle.  There is a dark purple to black mercedes marking emanating from the center.
