Description: Beloved American
illustrator Norman Rockwell created over 300 illustrations for the
Saturday Evening Post during the course of his long career. This illustration, a tribute to Rockwell's favorite 8th grade teacher Miss Smith, was published in March of 1956. It is sometimes referred to as "Happy Birthday Miss Jones." The scene is one of a teacher being surprised on her birthday by her students. As with many of Rockwell's paintings, every time you look at this picture you are apt to see something you hadn't seen before. This is the perfect gift for any teacher in your life, or the Norman Rockwell fan. |
