Music Poster-PILGRIMAGE FOR POP 1970 Tully Tamam Shud

Up for auction is a very RARE  & significant Australian Rock music poster. It was used to promote Australia's first large-scale outdoor rock festival - , "PILGRIMAGE FOR POP", which took place on January Sat. 25 & Sun. 26, 1970 (Australia Day weekend)  - Yes! this was before the Sunbury Music Festival! It is also significant in that it was the first local festival with an all-Australian line-up which took place only months after the Woodstock Festival in USA.

Promoters/organisers were Emle Stonewall Productions and The Nutwood Rug Band (an expatriate American acid-rock band who left the USA in 1967).Featured bands were;  NUTWOOD RUG;  TULLY;  DOUG PARKINSON IN FOCUS;  MAX MERRITT & THE METEORS;  TAMAM SHUD;  BILLY THORPE 7 THE AZTECS (early days of his new image);  JEFF ST. JOHN AND THE COPPERWINE;  LEVI SMITH CLEFS;  CHAIN;  JOHN SANGSTER;  HEART & SOUL;  SLIME MEN;  ADRIAN RAWLINS;  RACHETTE ( Stevie Wright);  WENDY SADDINGTON. There were attempts to lure John Lennon & Yoko Ono (there were rumours and newspaper articles saying that it was 'almost certain') but they were informed too late. Poster size is 92 cm x 73 cm. Painted in fluoro-like orange & green and black. For its age it is in good/very good condition. There is wear/thinning along mainly the right-hand edge which appears to have been caused by some liquid? (there is staining but only visible at the back). There are also a few very small holes but these are hard to see unless you are quite close. There is a small tear in the middle of the bottom edge. Otherwise this poster is in very good condition, still bright and vibrant.

I am reluctant to let this rare poster go as it speaks of a dynamic and exciting period in Australia's musical history. Great Christmas gift idea for that 'hard-to-buy' individual.   Good luck in your bidding.
