Sight Reading isn’t a talent, it's eye-hand-instrument coordination.  Musicians use the same thing to develop it as they do any other technique…..repetition.

You can develop any technique to mastery level by using simple repetition. 

How much time does a person actually spend time practicing sight reading?  The answer usually is, not very often.  And even when musicians do have time, they are usually too tired from working on other things and don’t want to exert the energy needed. 

That is the beauty of this course!

This DVD randomly fires at the viewer over and over the image of the treble and bass clef staff with a single note on it.  (over 5 octaves are covered)  While you are seeing the note in its appropriate place on the staff, you are also hearing a voice telling you what the name of the note is.  It’s like flash cards, except the DVD is giving you the answers instead of you having to come up with it yourself. 

This is nice because all you have to do is sit back, relax, and watch it over and over.  It takes no effort whatsoever to dramatically improve your sight reading skills!  Once again, repetition is the key.  After doing this course, you will instantly know the name of the note you are seeing because the note name will have been pounded into your head!  ^-^

This DVD, as stated above, is 6 video tracks of intense visual training.  Track 1 is treble clef only, at a slow speed.  Track 2 is treble clef only, at a fast speed.  Track 3 is bass clef only, at a slow speed.  Track 4 is bass clef only, at a fast speed.  Track 5 is treble and bass clef combined at a slow speed.  Track 6 is treble and bass clef combined at a fast speed. 

It may seem that the notes go by pretty fast, even on the slow tracks.  But if you think about it, when you are reading sheet music, the notes go by very fast most of the time.  So I think this is pretty realistic.  I recommend that you soften your focus and not try to concentrate on every single note.  This course is intended to slowly build your skill through repetition, so it doesn’t matter if you get it right away. 

This DVD deals with a massive note range starting from Bb below the bass clef staff to C, 3 octaves above middle C in the treble clef staff.  This is excellent training for the commonly used ranges as well as the extreme ranges of both staves.
