NARCISSE DIAZ DE LA PENA (1809-1876) The oil on Canvass dates to the middle of the 19th Century and represents two semi nude nymphs with floral wreaths on a swing in a forest setting. The canvas has been relined and measures 28” x 23” in an old frame measuring 4”. The oil is in good condition with light craquelure. . Our due diligence indicates that the image is authentic and by the hand of NARCISSE DIAZ DE LA PENA (1809-1876) and we will provide a Certificate of Authenticity.  NARCISSE DIAZ DE LA PENA (1809-1876) - A well known French Barbizon artist, Diaz was born in Bordeaux of Spanish parents. He first visited Barbizon in 1835 and in 1837 met Rousseau. His early works catered to the popular taste for the 18th Century Rococo style of the era. Diaz exhibited at the Paris Salon and was decorated in 1851. His works have auctioned for a high of $140,000 and his investment value has increased steadily during the last 10 years.
