Concho designs originated when Navajo silversmiths used silver coins in jewelry, joined together as belts, necklaces & bracelets and fastened them to the sleeves, collars and edges of their brightly colored velvet shirts and "Squaw" dresses.

Old conchos can still be seen at the local Feasts & Fiestas, worn by family members in combination with strands of Turquoise, Coral and Sterling Silver.
