Don't be fooled by sellers slinging homemade filters here on eBay using weak computer type fans - they simply don't have the air flow needed to effectively filter any significant amount of air.  Watch out for other filters that use cheap, short-term use "cocoa carbon" not the virgin activitated carbon this filter utilizes.  They also utilize an inefficient design of having the carbon loosely packed into a single cylinder which only allows the first couple of inches of carbon to be utilized as the fan cannot draw air from the "bottom" of the filter.   Our factory built filters incorporate a double-walled steel cylinder that allows ALL the carbon in the filter to have the proper air flow making it very efficient and effective.  This is the same design used by all "real" carbon filter manufacturers and this design has stood the test of time to prove it really works!

HOW IT WORKS:

Air is sucked through the filter, into the fan and either outside your grow area (used as ventilation) or back through the garden (used as an air "scrubber").   First air moves through the pre-filter where larger particles (dust, etc) are filtered out before they enter the carbon filled double walled section of the filter.  Once the air is moved through the carbon it is cleaned of any odors, pollen or other contaminates.  Carbon filters like this one have been used for years in thousands of gardens with excellent results.

You get both the 4" High Velocity fan and 4" Carbon Filter.  We even throw in a small piece of flexible ducting that will allow you to install and use your filter right out of the box! 

This isn't a wimpy little duct fan, this is a High Velocity Inline Fan with the horsepower needed to draw air through the carbon filter.  Steel construction (not cheap plastic like others) ensures that it is super tough and able to stand up to the elements.  4" flanged ends fit 4" ducting (to be fitted onto the filter).   Powerful 170 CFM (cubic feet per minute) rating 98 watt motor.  Comes with a steel bracket (for hanging from ceiling, we suggest using a "bungee cord" to diminish vibration noise) and a 10' grounded power cord that plugs right into a household outlet.  CE certified for safety.  3 year warranty on FAN.

This 4" Pure Flow Jr. Carbon Filter has a 4" flanged top and measures 12.5" tall and 6.25" wide.  This is a small sized filter that packs an impressive 4 pounds of activated carbon (not cheap cocoa-carbon in low quality filters).  Perfect for small closet sized grow room and grow tents/cabinets.  Comes with a white fabric Pre-Filter that filters dust and particulate matter before it reaches the carbon filter.

This Activated Carbon Filter is constructed with a "packed bed" design to give consistent performance, long life (12 to 18 months), and are completely maintenance free. The packed bed of activated carbon design prevents the formation of preferential channels which can allow untreated air through the system. This unique design gives the filter a larger surface area for significantly lowered pressure drops.  In other words, it's a double-walled filter packed tight with carbon that allows for a large surface area with no "empty areas" of carbon that would allow air to pass through it untreated.

Effective treatment requires the exchange of air in the growing area in a period of 5 minutes. Compute your requirements by multiplying the width times the length times the height of your growing area to obtain the total cubic feet. Divide this number by 5 to determine the proper filter size needed.

For example, if your growing area is 8 feet long by 8 feet wide by 8 feet tall, it contains a total of 512 cubic feet. To treat this area in five minutes, you would need to use a fan with a CFM (cubic feet per minute) rating of approximately 102. The GrowBright fan that comes with this system is rated at 170 cfm so this combo is good for a small closet sized grow room or grow tent / cabinet!

Please Note: It's always better to have a little more filtering than a little less for the best results.  Please "do the math" and realize you may need more than the minimum recommendations to effectively remove all odors from some of the more fragrant plants being grown nowadays. 

We also suggest using a Fan Speed Controller to "tweak" out your fan speed to customize the air filtration needed for your particular garden.
