Original b&w wire service photograph--not a reproduction. A LONG TIME BEFORE CELL PHONES WERE EVEN THOUGHT OF, the telephone company tried out phone service in cars. This photo, from 1946, shows how a proposed car telephone system would work. Caption goes into great detail on the workings of it, and notes this was the 70th anniversary of the telephone. TV detectives Amos Burke of "Burke's Law" and Frank Cannon of "Cannon" made extensive use of car phones in show episodes. The lower half of the image is a graphic showing how the system would work. A neat piece of technology history! Photo is in great shape and is a fine addition to your collection!

DATED: March 1, 1946

DIMENSIONS     7 x 9

DESCRIPTION    EXCELLENT; glossy finish intact; some dimpling in lower half of image from glue holding attached caption; no other noticeable flaws; caption attached at back; news wire service stamp on back; discoloration on back.

NEWS PHOTOS are pieces of history; they were transmitted via wire or radio to newspapers to accompany important stories of the day. As such, they are not "original" photos struck directly from the negative. Yet they are "original news photos" in the sense they are using an original photo from the point of transmission, and they are from the time an event occurred. Therein lies their value: they're historic and often hard to find. We do not make, nor sell, reproductions of these archival photos.

This object is an original and is being sold as a collector's item. We do not own, nor do we represent to sell, the copyright to this item.

The digital image is low resolution and may not show detail. The words "for eBay" don't appear on actual photo.

DON'T HESITATE TO EMAIL US IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION OF ANY KIND. CUSTOMER SATISFACTION IS IMPORTANT TO US, BUT BIDDERS MUST ALSO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR ACTIONS.
