Bisphenol-A (BPA) is a major ingredient of polycarbonate, which is used in many clear, hard-sided bottles. Phthalates are used in translucent bottles. Both of these chemicals have raised major health concerns. Lead, a well-known toxic chemical, is commonly added to vinyl (PVC), even in children's products such as bathtub duckies, and paint, sometimes used on toys and bottles.
These bottles work with all standard-size bottle nipples including Medela, Ameda, Gerber, Nuk, Playtex, Munchkin, etc.
To avoid nipple confusion, these bottles can also be connected with a modified Lact-aid, Supplemental Nursing System (SNS from Medela), or Finger-Feeder, as shown in demonstration videos on YouTube. I can send instructions to do this upon request. Bottle nipples and pacifiers of any kind should be avoided for at least the first 6 weeks after birth when establishing breastfeeding.
They also attach directly to all breastpumps that use standard bottle sizes, including Medela (Pump in Style, Swing, and all other models), Ameda (Hollister, Egnell, all models), Whittlestone, Evenflo, Lansinoh, Gerber, The First Years, etc.
A glass bottle is the optimal container for freezing breastmilk, as its thick walls preserve the milk from oxygen damage much better than petroleum-based containers. You can pump directly into these bottles, store in them, and feed out of them. The Philips Avent Express Baby Food and Bottle Warmer (not included) is labeled for thawing and warming glass bottles, and for evenly warming breastmilk without any hot spots.
Shipping will vary depending on how many bottles you buy (1-6). Actual shipping will be charged, by your choice of shipping method. First Class is only available for single bottles, as each weighs 9 ounces.
