The DTC Parallel Express advanced IEEE 1284 EPP/ECP is a new generation in parallel port technology that is perfect for connecting high speed external devices such as Zip drives, tape drives, scanners, video conferencing cameras, CD-R's, CD-ROM's, high performance printers, and other peripherals. The DTC Parallel Express allows communication between PC's and peripherals at speeds significantly faster than the standard parallel port. The DTC Parallel Express allows up to 8 devices to be daisy-chain connected, and for bi-directional data transfer rates of up to 2MB/sec. Enhanced Capability Port (ECP) Mode - as defined by Microsoft and Hewlett Packard for bi-directional data transfer with DMA support - supports the new generation of printers and scanners. The DTC Parallel Express is fully backwards-compatible with "Centronics" or standard parallel port peripherals and printers, allowing both old and new peripherals to be controlled from the same port.
