#1-THE 9" GATE AREA MACHINES ARE MUCH HEAVIER THAN OUR 7" MODELS.
ALL ARE MADE OF CAST IRON AND STEEL. THEREFORE AN EXTRA 2" WILL ADD CONSIDERABLE WEIGHT. A PORTABLE WALKING FOOT SEWING MACHINE IS NOT VERY PORTABLE IF IT IS TOO HEAVY.
SOMETIMES BIGGER IS NOT BETTER.
#2- OUR 7" MODELS FIT ANY STANDARD FULL SIZE CARRY CASE. THE 9" WILL NOT.
OUR MODEL HAS AN AVAILABLE TOP AND A BOTTOM TO THE CASE WITH SNAP CLASP CLOSURES THAT ALLOWS IT TO BE PORTABLE WITH A BUILT-IN CARRY HANDLE.
OUR 7" MODEL WILL ALSO FIT MOST ANY STANDARD SEWING MACHINE CABINET. THE 9" WILL NOT. THERE ARE NO CASES OR CABINETS MADE OR AVAILABLE FOR THE 9" GATE MODELS.

SEWING IS PUTTING TOGETHER SEAMS. ALL SEAMS ARE WITHIN A MAXIMUM OF 2" (MOST ARE LESS) FROM THE EDGE OF THE FABRIC OR MATERIALS BEING SEWN FROM THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE MATERIAL TO THE NEEDLE. THE BULK OF YOUR PROJECT IS ALWAYS TO THE LEFT OF THE NEEDLE. THEREFORE A 7" GATE, MUCH LESS A 9" GATE, IS NEITHER NEEDED NOR REQUIRED.

Therefore, the 9" models have no advantages what so ever. To the contrary, they have many disadvantages.

This well built, all metal, straight stitch sewing machine features a powered walking foot for the ultimate in feeding ability. On most sewing machines the presser foot simply holds the fabric down and all movement is accomplished with a single, bottom feed dog. The Campers Tent Maker uses a mechanical “Walking” presser foot that moves forward and back in time with the feed dog to ensure that the layers of fabric are consistently moving together through the machine.
Feed heavy, slippery, sticky fabrics with ease. Walk over thick hems, make the transition from thick to thin without skipping stitches. Produce consistent stitch lengths. A variable stitch length mechanism allows for very long straight stitches—up to 6mm. This reduces needle pucker for professional quality upholstery and canvas work.
Excellent power is provided by a 110 volt AC motor that develops 6600 rpm at 1.5 amps. A cogged belt and pulley jack drive system slows the machine, increases its power and eliminates slippage
The Campers Tent Maker utilizes an electronic foot control, unlike many of our competitors on EBay. An electronic foot control gives you much more accurate speed control, especially at slow speeds, and the foot control will not heat up. The carbon resistor type foot control that many of the cheaper machines offer, will cause a heat build up at slow sewing speeds and will not provide precise speed control. The electronic foot control comes standard on the Campers tent Maker.
The Camper's Tent Maker employs a self oiling system that will keep the machines critical metal parts lubricated for increased performance and worry free sewing. Portable walking foot sewing machines are constructed of all metal components which require proper lubrication to function PROPERLY, machines without this key feature tend to heat up, reducing the life span of the machine.
