According to the "wiki" on the web, the most prized color of Amethyst is an intense violet with red flashes and is called "Siberian". Also according to the "wiki" on the web, some Amethyst such as the "Russian" quality have a bluish purple key color. The "wiki" also mentions material recently found in Georgia since 2005 with some of the stones showing both blue hue and red flashes. We purchased this ring from a local jewelry store liquidation dealer who gave no history of the origin of this Amethyst. I was puzzled by the multiple colors so I researched these stones on the web to confirm that an Amethyst comes in more varieties than simple violet. There are 10 round brilliant cut diamonds that total .10 cts.
