The unit's harmless, invisible infrared sensor tells it when to open and close the lid for you. Just hold your hand or debris about 6 inches from the sensor and the lid will open instantly. It will remain open as long as the debris or your hand is within the 6 inch sensor range and will close three seconds after you have released the debris and moved your hand away. Open and close buttons at the top front of the lid allow you to change to manual operation, and a power switch in the back turns the unit on and off. This new generation automatic trash can accommodates 18 gallon garbage bags and has four wheels already installed for easy transportation. It has a removable top cover for easy cleaning and is powered by 4 D size batteries (not included) or an optional AC power adaptor. It comes with an AC adaptor jack and a one-year limited warranty.
