Designed for children ages five to eight, JumpStart Artist offers a variety of activities for kids interested in fundamentals such as primary and secondary colors, lines and shapes, folk art, famous artists, textures, patterns, and basic art concepts. JumpStart Artist provides 40 printable activities, several games that allow kids to learn about basics while being entertained, a multitude of design tools, three levels of complexity, animated songs and movies, and 60 creative starting ideas.

The studio toolbox contains a host of features including charcoal, oil or tempera paintbrushes, colored pencils, spray paint, chalk, scalable shapes, backgrounds, stickers, color mixing, blending, a paint-within-the-lines option, and a storage portfolio, among others. Special toolsets can be found in "The Quilting Drawer (stitching, trimming, buttons, appliqu?s), "The Collage Drawer" (stamps and hieroglyphs), and "The Puppet Drawer."

JumpStart Artist's diversity lies within six specific activities: "Hopalot's Invention Tent," "CJ's & Edison's Art Expeditions," "Casey's Concentration," "Frankie's Paint-Along Songs," "Kisha's Rides," and a personal art studio and gallery. Additional images can be imported to the program in various formats for the PC (.bmp, .tga, and .jpg) and Macintosh (.pict).
