This impressively large, well-made Indo Persian Battle Axe dates from the mid to late 19th Century. It is mounted with a beautifully detailed large Axehead that measures 13 1/8 inches across with a cutting edge of 13 5/8 inches. The Axe Head features wonderfully high relief designs, etched floral designs and is framed with pretty pierced work along the two inside edges. The Axe Head is crowned with a spike pommel as well as wears a smaller four sided spike hammer. The wooden shaft is simple in its design and is enhanced with lovely riveted flowers along either side and has lost its base fitting. The shaft measures 21 3/4 inches, overall measuring, including the spiked finial 30 1/2 inches in length. This Battle Axe weighs 5 pounds.
