Yamaha • FB-01 The YAMAHA FB-01 is simply an 8 part, 1 LFO, 4-operator, 8-algorithm, multitimbral digital FM synth module. The LFO operates on all parts in a multitimbral setup, and the LFO depth for each part can be adjusted. Deep editing of voices can be accomplished by a dedicated editor program like Unisyn, or by creating SysEx control messages within your sequencing program. There is memory for 20 multi setups; each part of a multi setup can operate on any MIDI channel, and can be routed to either or both of the two outputs. The number of voices allocated to each part must also be specified; the FB-01 is 8-note polyphonic. The FB-01 user interface consists of 8 buttons and a one-line LCD display. There are 240 preset patches, and 96 user patches, divided into two banks of 48. The user patches can be programmed through MIDI. The module has MIDI in, out, and thru. The YAMAHA FB-01 has a lot of fantastic organ, piano, brass, bass, guitar, percussion, and lead sounds. Basically this is a good source of typical FM-sounds at a low price.
