NICHO MEXICAN FOLK ART - Jesus of the Sacred Heart

You are bidding on one new Nicho which depicts Jesus of the Sacred Heart

This Nicho is hand crafted and hand carved from wood. The entire piece has been meticulously hand painted -- Notice the detail. Note that this piece is not machine made and there will be slight imperfections yet they had to the rustic character of the piece.

This nicho comes from the city of Apaseo el Grande, Guanajuato, Mexico.

Traditionally, nichos are wood, stone, tin and glass cases or enclosures that hold the images of saints, retablo santos or ex-votos (devotional paintings of thanks) for the use in household altars. In any event the nicho has been created to enlighten, satirize or just amuse.
