DESCRIPTION
The Nike Air Jordan III was released in 1988. The 1987-1988 season was one of the best for Michael. He won his first MVP award, won the Slam Dunk Contest again, and helped lead the Chicago Bulls to their best season in over a decade.

The Nike Air Jordan III was one of many wonderful works of Tinker Hetfield. The Jordan III was the first to have a visible air unit and the first to incorporate both fashion and function. The Jordan III is a very lightweight shoe, but it has great support. The signature feature on the shoes of course is the cement colored print on the upper. This would later inspire the XI LEs as well as the XIX lows.

The Jordan III was the first Jordan shoe to bear the Jordan Jumpman logo. This logo was placed on the tongue, and has been on every shoe since. Retro+ versions of the Nike Air Jordan III have the Jumpman on the back as well as the tongue.

The Jordan 3 was also retroed after Jordan retired in 1993. The retro colors were the White/Black/Cement and Black/Cement. In 2001 the Jordan 3s were brought back to life again in 3 colorways and finally in 2003, the White/Black/Cements were brought out, however, it had a Jumpman on the back thus making it a retro+.

Nike launched a catchy campaign with the brains of Spike Lee behind it. The Mars Blackmon campaign carried through for several years and was very successful in selling shoes.
