You are looking at the body for the ultimate film-based underwater camera system ever made. Even though out of production for over a decade now, the Nikonos RS AF system remains the camera of choice for professional divers who require the ability to take higher-resolution photographs than can be obtained from digital systems costing far more! If you are looking for a good Nikonos RS body, this one is better than a new one, because it's ready to dive with now! A brand-new body, even if never used, will require an annual service to replace the non-user-replaceable o-rings prior to use, since they've been out of production so long and the o-rings "flatten" over time since they're under constant pressure, whether used or not, leading to a flood.This RS camera body has a service and pressure check from Southern Nikonos. The camera body has been used, and shows wear. I rate it as bargain-plus cosmetically--it has scuffs, scratches and nicks on the back, bottom, sides and viewfinder top, leading to the bargain-plus overall rating. Of course, with a service and pressure check just completed before listing it's in perfect operating condition!
This set includes an original camera manual for the body, a nice one of the original glossy Nikonos RS brochures from Nikon, a tested-good camera battery, a wrist strap, the original (unused) neck strap, and an extra set of user-replaceable o-rings. I've taken the time to photograph this body so there will be no surprises. Please look at the detailed pictures below for an honest view of the condition at listing time. Also please keep in mind that the flaws are a bit more noticeable in person than they are in the photographs. I have made every effort to identify all known flaws and I intend to make every effort keep my 100% positive feedback by totally honest descriptions.  As is always the case, don't be misled by other people's ads saying you only need to replace the user-replaceable o-rings in similar systems. Underwater photography equipment is like your dive gear--it should be properly serviced to prevent problems when used with the increased pressure underwater. Since this body has just been serviced, that's something you won't have to worry about for a year! The following photo shows what you get with an annual service. As you can see, there are more o-rings in this equipment than Nikon sells you in a user o-ring kit, and it takes a trained professional to disassemble the camera and replace those on the shafts like the mode selector, film advance, etc. The invoice indicates a limited annual maintenance as one of the o-rings for the body is no longer available. However, that o-ring was still good on this camera, and this camera was pressure tested after the service. The user-replaceable o-rings on the back, sync cord bulkhead, and remote control bulkhead were also changed in the service.
