Located at an Estate Sale – 2 lovely Hand Painted Soup Bowls by Noritake Nippon. These delicately painted round bowls are a wonderful example of earlier Noritake craftsmanship. The green backstamp indicates these pieces were made by Noritake - Morimura between 1891 - 1921. Since we weren't able to locate the exact pattern name, dating was difficult . Our best guess is ca.1911. Our favorite Replacement site lists this as Pattern N 979. If anyone has additional information, we'd be thrilled if you would share! These bowls are in excellent condition for their age. They measure approximately 7 - 1/4" in diameter. This bowls are white with a light green and cream banded border. Pink roses with green leaves are painted in 5 locations around the gold trimmed rim. The handpainting shows very little wear and is still quite vivid. We found NO crazing, cracks or chips in these collectible pieces. Normal tiny glazing imperfections are evident. Since these pieces are quite old, and used, there are faint use marks most likely from utensils or storage. There might possibly be other slight imperfections that we didn't notice - not uncommon due to the age of this lovely dish. These Bowls are clearly marked with the green wreath backstamp: "Noritake", the letter "M" (for Morimura Bros) Handpainted - Nippon".
