"Nothing was too good for Rockwell's Rosie, and so he borrowed for her the pose and muscular physique that Michelangelo devised for the prophet Isaiah on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. The notion was inspired, all the more so for being so unexpected. There is no more heroic model in the history of Western painting, but Rockwell did not just borrow, he added many imaginative touches of his own. Balanced on Rosie's ample lap, the heavy riveting machine seems like a toy."
