NORTHERN
UPRIGHT 'EDINBURGH' CHESSMEN The Northern Upright
(also known as Edinburgh Upright) Chessmen, originating some time before 1840. The pattern generally attributed to Lord John Hay, Member of the English Parliament and
Rear-Admiral of the British Navy. There is some speculation that the pattern may have been a common style in the Edinburgh area, as early as the 1820's. HIGH QUALITY SET This is a new set,
precisely carved in the original 19th century style. It is a standard playing size, with a king of 3 7/8 inches. These pieces are recommended for play on a
board of 2 to 2 1/4 inch squares (board not included in this sale). FELTED AND GENEROUSLY WEIGHTED These pieces conform to modern standards of excellence for "feel" during play. They are felted on the bottoms, and substantially weighted. The entire set of 32 pieces weighs over 2 pounds. CHESSMEN ONLY Please note that no board
is included with this set. The board shown below is for display only. Shipping, etc... Shipping is by Priority Mail: 2-3 "business days" within the U.S., 6-10
