Published by
the Walter T. Foster, How to Draw Series, copyright Laguna Beach CA, circa
1950 edition. Having 40 pages, illustrated throughout with drawings,
some in color, providing instruction on the creation nude "figures
from life" drawings and paintings, great for budding artist types,
looking for just these proper, basic illustrative techniques. Oversized,
staple bound 10.5 by 13.5 inch stiff paper covers covers, showing minor exterior wear and soiling, otherwise binding still
internally tight and strong, contents clean and bright, and overall in
very good condition.
(text taken from
preface...)
After seeing so many artists, as well as beginners,
struggle along with poor or scratchy drawings for a guide to paint over, the great surprise is that the painting comes out at all; so with an understanding of good blocking-in and right proportions it is quite easy to bridge the gap from fair to good drawing and should be the means of greatly improving your work. All artists arrive
at their finished drawings in a way they have gleaned through years of study and trying. I hope my way may help you over some of the rough spots, giving you a foundation to build upon other than a hit-and-miss manner of laying-in your drawings. Good luck to you!
Sincerely yours,
Walter Foster
