Description: First Edition. Binding is Hardcover; First Printing. NY Longmans, Green and Co. Inc. 1956. Dustjacket. 532 pages with geo. appendix and index. Details Fremont's three great expeditions under the auspices of the government up until 1846, when the Mexican War put an end to his work in California.

Condition: Very good. Dustcover condition excellent. Small stain on bottom edge. Cover and spine have mild edge wear. Binding is strong.Pages are clean and intact; no writing and/or highlighting in this book. Small tear on p. 41.

Provenance: From the estate of the late U.S. Ambassador Philip Kaiser. Inscription to his son reads: "With much love to David Elmore Kaiser from Daddy. June 7, 1956."
