Kiowa Love Flute, easy to play

The Native American courting flute, with soft sensitive tones, a pentatonic scale, restful and creative, anything you do sounds lovely.
Easy to play! Great for beginners! Just blow softly into the top hole like a recorder.

The vertically held Kiowa is just placed against the lips and you blow softly. The hard work inside the flute makes this an easy flute to play.
This is an easy flute to learn not only because of the blowing but the scale is pentatonic like the black keys on the piano. Anything you do sounds good.

Story:
It is said that this flute was a courting flute. A brave would play it outside the Tee Pee of the girl he wanted to marry. If she came out saying I heard the flute, she was saying yes to the proposal. If she didn't come out she was rejecting him. Later, when he would find her in the village, if he asked, didn't you hear my song? She would simply say, “I didn't hear it”.
The Native men said the flute was blown so softly that it drew anger out of them. My theory is a bit different. After she said “No”, he got mad and the flute counseled his anger.
Around the turn of the last century, Native Americans were discouraged by the existing American establishment in playing their flutes. I recall a Native American woman watching me play the Kiowa Love Flute at a craft show. She got all teary eyed and walked away. I yearned to know what had happened in her heart. Suddenly she returned to buy one. With tears in her eyes she told me her grandfather owned a flute but was forbidden to play it.
