Coconut Fiber Doormats are handmade in small villages along the coastline in south India.  The farmers process every part of the coconut.  The coconut husk is used for the doormat production.  Coconuts are gathered and soaked for a period of time in lagoons and later cracked by hand to remove the fiber.  The people then weave the fibers to create the doormats and print them with designs.  It takes 40 coconuts to make one doormat.
