Navajo Native American Indian Rug Blanket Textile weave

This is a Very Old and Uncommon example of a TWO GREY HILLS NAVAJO RUG FROM THE 1910 RANGE which it is in good to very good condition for age! A stunning looking rug, most likely utilizing Churro Sheep's wool from the Navajo Reservation stocks. This rug is made from ALL NATURAL WOOL COLORS (No Dyes) which have been expertly hand spun, hand carded and hand woven into the textile you see before you! The white, brown, and grey are all hand carded colors!

This is an nice example of a the style of Navajo Rug which later became so well known as Two Grey Hills. Note the complex dazzler and chevron pattern with the repeating geometric/Greek style border. This rug is ready to display as is in your home, cabin, shack...or castle!

A REAL LOOKER, WITH HIGH QUALITY WEAVING AND WOOLS STILL DISPLAYING GLOSS AND SHEEN!

The size of this blanket is approximately 54" X 40", with a warp of 9 to 10 and a weft of about 28 to 30, the warp and weft yarns are tightly spun and woven.

SELVAGE: The Side Selvage Cords are only about 20% intact/present (loss and breaks), a twist of two red/pink 2-ply wool yarns. The End Selvage Cords are 80% intact/present (loss and breaks), a braid of three, 1-ply white wool yarns.

NO Moth nibbles/grazing/bug holes/bug damage, NO Fading, NO notable stains/staining, and NO Bleeding. There are 3-4 very small holes in the field, see the last pic with 3 fingers pointing to examples. The corner ties are worn/gone (see pic. or 4 corners) from time & use, and the actual corners are worn as well. There is some thread sewn into the corners, some areas of edge which somebody put there to help stabilize (keep it form fraying) the rug.

Overall this rug is is good condition with some wear/tear to the edges.

No odors, clean and ready to display. This blanket has not been cleaned but is displayable as is.

This rug is not faded, the colors are natural wool colors - photos in bright sunlight may make the rug appear a little lighter then colors actually are.
