Yachay Wasi (Quechua: House of Learning) is a NGO, based in New York City, USA & Cuzco, Peru, accredited at the United Nations since 1997. Besides its international advocacy for Indigenous issues, Yachay Wasi implements environmental projects in the Peruvian Andes such as the Recovery of the Circuit of Four Lakes in the Dept of Cuzco, Peru, the Campaign of planting native trees in same area as a Partner of UNEP Billion Trees Campaign. It is planning a 2009 Conference on Indigenous Sacred Sites in Peru.

Handcrafted Earrings from the Andean village of Pisac, Peru:

Handpainted Nazca Lines motif of Hummingbird on red ceramic disc over red ceramic beads. Metal is alpacca

Size of earrings: 2 3/4 inches long - Disc diameter: 1 1/8 inch.

Alpacca metal: 800 silver & nickel alloy (Sterling is 925 silver)

The Nazca Lines were etched in the ground centuries ago on a plateau on the coast of Peru. Figures of various animals are so large that they can best be seen from a small airplane

These authentic crafts handmade by the descendants of the Inkas in the Peruvian Andes are hand carried to New York City by the president of the NGO Yachay Wasi who is himself a Quechua speaking Indigenous artist residing in Cuzco, Peru. Cuzco in the Peruvian Andes is the ancient capital of Tawantinsuyu, the Inka empire.
