This auction is for a new Kentucky KM-1000 Master Model mandolin. It has been in our shop for several months, but has virtually no wear to speak of. Exceptional quality all around. Very close to the look and feel of the 20s-30s mandolins from Kalamazoo. Good, loud bark, excellent volume and sweet tone. Very good playability, with a comfy neck profile. These are, in my opinion, as close as you can get to the quality of a contemporary American made mandolin, but for a fraction of the cost. There is usually quite a long wait to get these (we had ours on order for over 8 months). Includes a vintage-style hardshell case by Golden Gate, and a set-up by one of our two luthiers. Also includes our standard 2 year shop warranty. The Kentucky Master Model Mandolin was introduced in the late 1970s in response to players’ and collectors’ requests for a mandolin that duplicated the best vintage instruments in every point of tone, appearance and finish. Kentucky Master Models are again being constructed to the same standard of quality. Only the finest American spruce and maple is hand-carved and graduated for the tops and backs. Deluxe 14:1 reverse tuners, Pre-war style ebony bridge and side-striped w/b/w ivoroid body binding all reek vintage. Take a trip back to the early 20s on the Kentucky time machine...it is surprisingly affordable. Features include:
