Meade 8200 Microscope 08007 is an inexpensive microscope "starter set", but it is definitely NOT A TOY. Meade's 8200 Microscope is a great introduction to the wonders of the microscopic world. This Meade Microscope includes three objective lenses mounted on a revolving turret (4X, 10X, and 40X), combined with a wide-field 10X eyepiece to yield magnifications of 40x, 100x, and 400X. I bought this microscope starter kit for my son for his birthday, and he hasn't stopped "playing" with it since he got it! He loves looking at all kinds of different stuff, and the microscope is easy enough for a small child to use (once given instruction), but it's also sophisticated enough that adults can have a good time "researching," too! Ever since they learned about cells in school she has asked me to buy her a microscope so she could do "research" as she calls it. She has been looking at cells of different leaves, human tissue, and anything else she finds around the house. I'm just a happy mom who loves to see her daughter spend so much time on something besides tv and video games.
