The Yukari Royale is a larger version of the Yukari pen, just the right size to carry with you, but large enough for a richer and more expressive Make-e treatment. The designs were newly created from traditional Japanese Maki-e motifs. Namiki URUSHI Collection
Urushi collection is the large fountain pen produce since the 1930's. It was named "No.50 Jumbo" and manufactured under two brand names, "PILOT" and "Dunhill-Namiki." There pens have the unique ink system like the original. Roiro-Urushi lacquer is attained by applying a layer of oilless Urushi lacquer coat. Then it is polished with special charcoal, and raw lacquer is rubbed in on top of that. It is then left to dry, and after drying it is burnished. This process is repeated several times to give a unique glossy luster.

Chinkin (Gold inlay) is one of the representative Japanese traditional techniques as same as Maki-e. In the art of Chinkin, the lacquered surface is carved with the special chisels first. Then, the carved dots and lines are lacquered, and coloured with precious gold foil and powder. This art gives the fine and delicate finish combined with powerful, three-dimensional expressiveness, the Chinkin technique involves engraving only, therefore, once the work begins, it cannot be corrected even if an error is made. That is, no failure is allowed. Each touch of the carving chisel requires excellent skill and concentration.
