Advantages to a chenille floor covering

Chenille is prized for its soft luxurious appearance.  It offers traditional warm colors and is soft, making it ideal for your bedroom, playroom, bedroom, or kitchen.  They are consumer friendly, being easy to clean and hard to soil.  Also, chenille braided rugs have the benefit of being 100% reversible.   In my opinion, none other equates to the softness and luxurious look of chenille, and they are often the rug of chose, as Mothers attempt to complete their little ones’ nursery or bedroom.  A rug completes the look.  Many hold the benefit of offering a casual and comfortable appeal.  They are durable, yet between the two, wool holds the prize for being the most durable of carpet fabrics.  Chenille yarns can be used in the normal single braid construction, or woven into a chunky, double braided chenille. 

Chenille yarn looks thick, soft and fuzzy.  It has been said to resemble long caterpillars.  The construction of a chenille braided rug begins with creating a tightly wound core for the yarn.  Then piles of short lengths of fabric are wrapped around this core.  When the chenille is wrapped around this core, the edges stand at right angles from its center.  This is what gives chenille its characteristic soft appearance.  Chenille can have an iridescent look, even without the use of an iridescent material.  It is an interesting fact that most fabrics are named specifically from the type of fabric fibers that it’s made of; examples being wool and mohair.  Chenille is named from the process of its construction.  Many different types of fabric are used to create a chenille braided rug; the most common and the best quality one being cotton.  Others are rayon, acrylic and olefin.
