This is the story of the first New York Aquarium which opened at 35th St. and Broadway in 1876. The present New York Aquarium opened in 1896. Original article from Scribner's Magazine, Vol. XII!, #5, March, 1877, 15pp, (loose), 27 Illustrations, 6 1/4"x9 1/2".

About the Subject:

Coup, W. C. (William Cameron), 1857-1895 was one of the most famous circus owners of the nineteenth century, who partnered with P.T. Barnum to built a circus hippdrome, constructed the New York Aquarium (1876), and traveled around the country on the first circus train.
