Myers Pumps etc., originally published by The F.E. Myers & Bros. Co., Ashland, Ohio, 1955, 1960. Re-printed by H.S. Equipment Publications, Gettysburg, Penn., 1990s. 8½ x 11 paperbound, 22 pages.

Please note that this is a photoduplicated reproduction, not an original . The accompanying images were scanned from a reprint, not the original.

The F.E. Myers & Bros. Co. began in 1870, when Francis E. Myers left his father's farm and began selling tools and hardware to local farmers. His brother, Philip developed the double-acting hand pump, which delivered water in a steady stream instead of in short spurts. Soon, Francis was devoting himself entirely to the marketing and selling of his brother’s pumps. Two other brothers, Alvah N. and G. Denton, joined the enterprise, and the firm erected their own building. By 1884, the Myers’ operations had expanded to cover several city blocks in Ashland.

Philip's mechanical talent made the company a leading firm in the farm equipment industry. Philip Myers held 125 patents on various pump designs and also porch swings, bicycle stands, hat tools, store ladders, door hangers, and other items. Through the years Myers has designed, developed and manufactured many types of pumps, including windmill pumps, bilge pumps, de-watering pumps, fire pumps, industrial pumps, and power sprayer pumps.

In 1960, the Myers family sold F.E. Myers & Bros. Co., to the McNeil Corporation, a worldwide organization with corporate headquarters in Akron, Ohio. In 1986 Pentair, Inc. of St. Paul, Minnesota, acquired Myers, which now is part of the Pentair Pump Group.

Myers is still a going concern, though not under its own name. The Ashland operation includes over 410,000 square feet of warehouse, manufacturing, distribution, foundry, office facilities and employs approximately 600 people. Myers combines manufacturing expertise and understanding of applications to provide a pump with strength and versatility for any demanding high-pressure job, and remains dedicated to supplying top quality jet and submersible well pumps; utility, sump and sewage pumps; effluent pumps; non-clog and other large waste handling pumps; and high pressure reciprocating and centrifugal pumps and pumping systems. Markets include residential, agricultural, commercial, municipal and industrial applications in North America and more than 100 foreign countries.

PLEASE READ ABOUT PAYMENT, SHIPPING AND HOW TO CONTACT US, BELOW!

Many of our books on American History, and on blacksmithing, are now being sold under a separate eBay account, n-b-books2. Please search for seller n-b-books2.

TERMS OF PAYMENT.

  • We accept PayPal. The email address to use to pay us is akw@nbbooks.com.
  • We also accept and process Visa and MasterCard CREDIT CARD payments. Please call or email us with your number, expiration date, and the name on the card. If you send us your credit card information by email, we suggest you break up the number in two emails.
  • We do NOT accept American Express.
  • We also accept personal checks and money orders. Checks and money orders will NOT be held for clearing if the buyer has a respectable record of positive feedback.
  • Please be sure to include your name, address, the book title, and the eBay auction number with ALL payments and emails. You would be amazed at the number of people who send us checks and don’t tell us what the check is for. Our retirement fund? Our grandkid’s college fund? Or was it a particular book or auction?

SHIPPING IN THE UNITED STATES. Buyers located in the United States may select from the following modes of shipment:

  • U.S. media (book rate) mail is $4.50.
  • PRIORITY MAIL is $6.95.
  • INSURANCE: The buyer may also have shipment insured for an additional $1.65. Our responsibility for shipping, and for this transaction, ends once the package has crossed the counter and we have the Post Office receipt in hand. We cannot and will not accept responsibility for what the Post Office does or does not do after that. If you do NOT choose to pay an extra $1.65 for Postal Insurance, please do NOT expect us to replace the book if it gets lost in the mail. Generally, we strongly recommend you purchase insurance on anything over $25.00.
  • Alternatively, buyers may supply their own account numbers with UPS, Federal Express, or other carrier.
  • We will combine shipping on multiple auctions to help save you a little money. But, please email us a complete list of the auctions you have won or are bidding on.
  • PLEASE NOTE that our experience over the past few holiday seasons has been that about one in five books took over four weeks to be delivered to states west of the Mississippi River. Please understand that we have NO control or influence over the how quickly or how slowly the Post Office delivers your book.

If you want to use media (book rate) mail please wait at least four weeks before you contact us to inquire about the whereabouts of your book. And note that all we’ll be able to tell you is the date we mailed it from the Post Office. We will NOT be able to tell you where the book is, or when the Post Office is going to deliver it.

BUYING AND SHIPPING OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES.Buyers located outside the United States must remit payment in U.S. dollars. NOTE: Checks drawn on other than a U.S. bank must add $8.00 for my bank's foreign check clearing fee THIS APPLIES ONLY TO CHECKS drawn on non-U.S. banks. Money orders denominated in U.S. dollars do NOT need to add any fee.

As of May 14, 2007, the U.S. Postal Service eliminated Airmail and Surface Mail, while raising postage rates by over a third.

This book is small enough to be shipped in a Global Priority Mail flat rate envelope, which is $12.00 to most countries. PLEASE NOTE -- NOT ALL COUNTRIES !!! Global Priority Mail to Canada is $10.00. First Class International Mail to most countries is $6.70. PLEASE NOTE -- NOT ALL COUNTRIES !!! First Class International Mail to Canada is $5.50.

Our experience in the past few years is that MAILING OVERSEAS HAS BECOME SOMEWHAT RISKIER AND MUCH, MUCH SLOWER. We have seen a handful of books take nearly two months to be delivered. One or two books a year end up never being delivered. We’re sorry, but there is nothing we can do about the postal services of our respective countries.

Please email us to arrange payment and shipping details.
