This great vintage Royal Administrator Electric Typewriter has some cool mod '60s feel to it - plus it also works beautifully. It has hip features like Magic Margin, a push button carriage return, and a snazzy elite type face that is 12 characters per inch in size.
The typewriter was made in Japan by Litton Royal. It is labeled on the back as Model SP9000 with specs of 115V, 0.9A, and 60 Hz. It is tan/light gold textured and smooth plastic with a black keyboard. The square, close-set black keys have round faces with yellow lettering. It has a 12" wide carriage and measures 18 3/4" at the widest point -- 13 3/4" wide at the front edge. It is 14 3/4" from front to back and has a relatively low profile standing at 5 5/8" high.
The typewriter does not come with a case or manual.
The typewriter is in very good working condition. The keys strike freely and the machine has a light, crisp touch. On the left side of the keyboard are wheels to adjust for the # of Copies as well as a Touch Control. The former goes from 1-10, the latter has six settings. The typewriter has 4 line space settings, 1/2, 1, 1 1/2 and 2. It uses a two spool ribbon ad the one installed looks like it has about 1/3 left but could be reversed. The margin setting buttons work, as does the tab set, clear. The end of line bell sounds. I know the person who owned this typewriter since it was new and they are someone who takes good care of their equipment.
The typewriter weighs just over 26 pounds and is very quiet. The case has some soiling and discoloration and there is some schmutz on the right side which may come off with a more rigorous cleaning. It has a round heavy duty power cord with a 3-prong plug.
