Just in time for the holidays!  You are bidding on an OCTAGONAL SERVING PLATTER in Noritake’s 175/16034/43061 pattern, also known as Gold & White and/or Christmas Ball.   Rarely available and not even listed currently in the usual retail sources, it is about 13 ½" in diameter.  The green No. 16034 backstamp with Japanese characters above the number (VanPatten #31 @ pg 98, Alden MM-19E @ pg 22) dates it to the mid-1920s.  The platter is in very good condition considering its age, but there is definitely gold loss on the outside edge and some tiny places on the border (see photo #5), but the overwhelming impression of the border is that the gold is in tact.  This is a lovely piece with multiple possible uses.  The area inside the border measures about 10" - perfect for sliced meats and deep enough to hold any juices; a cake, molded salad, etc.  Speaking as a long time collector of Noritake’s Gold & White, this piece would be a welcome addition for anyone who particularly enjoys collecting these unusual examples of the pattern.

These listings are from my own personal collection, which has been long been cherished and cared for lovingly.  This is one of Noritake's earliest patterns and it continued to be popular through the years after its 1912 introduction into their fine china line.  For further information on Noritake china, including backstamps and pattern identification, please consult: "Early Noritake China," by Alden & Richardson; "The Collector's Encyclopedia of Noritake," by Joan VanPatten; or "Noritake Dinnerware: Identification Made Easy," by Robin Brewer.

I'm happy to answer any questions, but please ask before bidding. U.S. SHIPPING ONLY. Buyer pays USPS priority shipping, with insurance required and included. This is very fragile china. Many of these unique pieces are irreplaceable. Every piece will be bubble wrapped and rewrapped and packed in new shipping cartons. This careful attention does result in a higher shipping charge in most cases. If you want your item(s) double boxed, please let me know, but there will be an additional charge and higher postage.

PayPal Only. Your item(s) shipped within 24 hours after payment confirmation. Buy with confidence and thanks for bidding!
