Artist's Statement:
I consider my work “Approachable Art.” I try
to create in a matter-of-fact manner, with a goal of making my art
something that appeals to people on a basic level. Sometimes it
challenges convention, and sometimes it’s social commentary. At times my
art can be both soothing to the senses and yet rigid in structure. Some
of my favorite pieces actually work with me in the creative process. My
materials sometimes dictate the direction of the piece, and it’s that
chaotic effect, that sometimes creates the most striking pieces. It’s
less about forcing a result and more about being the conductor who helps
guide each piece in a particular direction. However, whatever the piece,
it is my goal to make the viewer smile, and leave them with a sense of
satisfaction.

One happy customer reviews her new todd v
painting...
I won a ToddV painting at an E-bay auction, judging
the work from the picture provided and taking the chance because the bid
price was so reasonable. When it arrived, I was in awe of what I had
actually purchased. Perfect color - the auction picture didn't come
close to suggesting the perfection of the paint color. And while one could
see from this same photograph that the piece was strong, it didn't do
justice to the strength of the painted image - quiet and bold at the same
time - a characteristic usually reserved for describing dignity or
confidence.
Todd has a way of painting a whimsical image that
portrays grounded reality, a matter-of-fact "rightness" without
being matter-of-fact about it. I'm tremendously pleased with my painting,
and equally fortunate for having found this artist.

And another customer writes...
I am 38 years old, married to the most supportive and hot woman on this planet, and the father to the prettiest little princess you have ever seen. Nearly two years ago I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a type of cancer. After a year and a half of chemo treatments, radiation, and a stem cell transplant, our lives are starting to get put back together. While perusing some of Todd's work on the internet one night I came across his "Vulnerable" sketch, which was being sold as a print. The moment I saw it I got goose bumps and knew that I had to have a copy of this piece of art in my home. my wife and I have tried to stay away from adding any prints to our collection, limited edition or not, but I approached Todd about blowing this print up to a size of 2' x 3'. Todd replied that he did not think that blowing up the print would do it justice, as well as maintaining the quality. Todd then offered to paint it for me and I gratefully accepted. This piece of art is a masterpiece and will always be my favorite. I hope to be on this earth for many years to come, but I know in my soul that there will never be another painting like this one. I have been to hundreds of museums, galleries, etc. and the feeling that Todd's work has evoked in me has been something not often felt.
Simply put, Todd's work is very, very special, and if you don't have one, or twenty, of his pieces in your collection then you are missing out on one of the best artist's of our time. I consider myself lucky for a thousand reasons, but one of them is that Todd was was willing to allow me to commission this piece and that it is now hanging in my home. All I know about Todd is what I have read on his web site and what I have learned through our many e-mails, but I not only consider him an amazing artist, I consider him a great person and my friend.
