Item Description

You are buying one Nun's Orchid, Phaius tankervilliae LIVE PLANT (AKA: Nun's Cap Orchid, Chinese Ground Orchid, Red Crane Orchid, Swamp lily, Veiled Nun Orchid)

Don't let the word 'Orchid' scare you away from this easy to grow plant!

The plant you will receive is currently 8" - 10" tall and growing in a one gallon container. Here is an EXAMPLE of the size plant you will receive (it will not be this exact plant):

This is a terrestrial orchid but requires very well draining soil or orchid mix - don't let water stand on this plant.  Hardy to zone 9, these can be container grow in any climate and actually make excellent houseplants placed in a bright window but out of direct sunlight.  This orchid flowers in the late winter or early spring and each plant can have multiple flower stems, each reaching as much as 4' high!  The flowers are very fragrant and last for several weeks.

The Shipping/Handling fee on this plant is calculated based on your zip code at the top and bottom of the auction listing.

    I will reduce shipping and handling costs if you are the winning bidder on more than one auction within 7 days and you make one payment for all auctions at once and all auctions are being shipped to the same address.

    SHIPPING SPECIFICS:

    These are shipped bare-root wrapped in damp newspaper to keep the plants healthy during shipping. I use PRIORITY MAIL to assure timely delivery.  Shipping of plants is done on Monday's and Tuesday's (and sometimes Wednesday's) to avoid plants sitting in a warehouse or truck over a weekend awaiting delivery. Payment must be received no later than 5pm EST on Monday for the plants to go out the next day; otherwise it will be shipped the following week.

    COLD WEATHER WARNING:

    My plants are TROPICAL - COLD WEATHER / FREEZING TEMPERATURES MAY DAMAGE THEM DURING SHIPPING. If the temperatures in your area pose a danger to these plants, PLEASE DO NOT BUY THEM UNTIL TEMPERATURES ARE SUITABLE FOR SHIPPING in your area.   If you want them shipped, regardless of cold weather, you take 100% of the responsibility for the healthy delivery of the plants. BEING A SMALL GROWER, I DO NOT HAVE THE SPACE OR RESOURCES TO HOLD PLANTS FOR LATER SHIPPING.

    If you have any question about whether temperatures in your area are suitable for shipping, please email me and let me know what city and state you're in.

    If at all possible, have your plants shipped to your office or someplace where they can be brought in out of the weather as soon as they are delivered.

    INSURANCE:

    Insurance is optional. Keep in mind that insurance on plants covers them only if they don't arrive - if plants are damaged in shipping (from heat, cold, etc.), Postal Insurance DOES NOT COVER THAT.

Return postage is the responsibility of the buyer and will not be included in the refund.  Keep in mind that many plants will wilt and may remain wilted for several days following shipping - please following the planting instructions that are included with your plants carefully for best results.
