John Dee (1527-1608) mathematician and Astrologer ot Queen Elizabeth I, one of the leading scientists of Elizabethan Europe, kept meticulous records of his efforts to communicate with angels. This book includes a large number of these records starting in 1583.  These records are filled with fascinating and often entertaining details of 16th century life, science, politics, and occultism. Most of the material was recorded by Dee from the dictation of Edward Kelley, who saw visions in Dee's various crystal balls. Some of the evidence for the veracity of these visions is compelling, such as when the angels switch to Greek to communicate with Dee directly, so Kelley could not eavesdrop. He also dictated long passages in the "Enochian" language, which is otherwise unknown and has a consistent grammar and vocabulary.

This book has proved to be on of the most sought after book on magic and alchemy ever published. There is very good reason for this. These books are powerful, and were considered so dangerous that for many years, rare copies could only be found in certain libraries, locked away from the general public and from those who would use (or misuse) its power.

Dr. John Dee and his assistant Edward Kelly kept a magickal diary of their communications "with some angels" beginning in 1583.  This diary describes the reception of much of this information from these angels, including a description of the magickal table to be used, tablets, rings, etc.  The reception of the five enochian tablets is described, as well as the reception of the enochian language.  The Enochian language is said to be the language of the angels.  The angels requested that Dee learn their language in order to communicate with them better.  It is called Enochian, because supposedly the language was originally given to Enoch.  Dr. John Dee was an esteemed mathematician and scholar of his time.  He was a member of Queen Elizabeth's court.  With Edward Kelly and their two wives, they set off on travels across Europe, all the while attempting to communicate with their angels.  They also were pursuing alchemical studies and experiments.  Kelly remained in Prague, while Dee returned to England.  Dee secreted this diary in a secret drawer of a wooden chest.  Fifty years after his death, these documents were discovered and published by a fellow named Meric Casaubon, who attempted to discredit Dee by exposing the fact that Dee was "consorting with demons."

"True & Faithful Relation..." covers the scrying sessions of these two men from May 28, 1583 to April 2, 1587 (Edward Kelley as the visionary). Also John Dee used Bartholomew Hickman as a scrier from March 20, 1607 to Sept. 7, 1607 which is also included in this book. It was rumored that this book was originally buried in the ground and later found. Most scholars believe this was just another romantic tale, which is true considering it was the Renaissance period.
