This is the most complete book on odd & curious money. It contains 381 pages with over 1,200 pictures including 150 in full color. The book is hard cover and is 8 1/2" x 11" and weights almost 5 pounds. Included is a seperate price list of the items in the book. The items are listed in alphabetical order with a picture and description. The book won the "Best World Coin Book of the Year" by the Numismatic Writers Guild. It is titled AN ETHNOGRAPHIC STUDY OF TRADITIONAL MONEY by CHARLES OPITZ.

The items covered are from all parts of the world and include: African weapons used as money, American Indian wampum, dog tooth and pig tooth necklaces from the Pacific area, Siam bullet money, opium weights, Chinese sycee, Yap stones, kula items, beads of all kinds, mokos. money trees, salt money, tea money, Indonesian silver earrings, sycee, porcelain tokens, feather coils, fish hooks, Chinese knife money, throwing knives, etc.

The author, Charles Opitz, has traveled to many parts of the world where these items are still used as money and gives first hand descriptions of conversations with the actual natives. The book normally retails for $80.00 plus postage.
