A Collectible Certificate from the

OIL CREEK

ALLEGHENY RIVER

RAILWAY COMPANY

This Railroad was first chartered in 1861 and through a few name changes and mergers started issuing stock under this name in 1868 - just Two Years before this particular issue!!!  Somebody must have blown it, because it was sold at foreclosure in 1875 and soon became part of the Pennsylvania Railroad.

These stocks are hard to come by and demand a Premium Price.  One of the things that makes it so collectible is the Marvelous Central Vignette: In the foreground two Horsemen with Gear that was used to haul the Barge on the Canal just behind them.  On the other side of the canal is a Funnel-Stack Locomotive and Train.  And beyond that we see a view of the River with a Two-Stack Sidewheeler Steamboat!!!

And that's not all!!!

At the bottom is a small vignette of a different Funnel-Stacker.  At the top is a Twenty-Five Cent Revenue Stamp with a Portrait of George Washington.  Attached to the side is the Original Bill of Sale with Fancy Handwriting.

Like all that I have seen, this one was aggressively hand-cancelled but is in overall

You can pay a lot of money for this Certificate but it's yours right now at a Very Reasonable

LOW OPENING BID OF $12.95!

[The Bond you receive will be THE EXACT SAME ONE you see.  The two small pictures are stock photos; the large picture is of the EXACT stock you will receive.  It was made out to Smith Randolph & Co for 100 Shares of Fifty Dollars each with Reg. No. 374 and dated April 10, 1869.  The complete bill of sale did not fit into my scanner, but it's all there - folded over.  It has a couple of staple holes - NOT in the vignette - but against a white background as shown that is hardly noticeable.]

The Printer's Mark on this one is VERY RARE

It reads "Lith. by the American Bank Note Co. Phila."
