OLD BEAUTIFUL UZBEK SILK HAND-EMBROIDERY SUZANI FROM BOYSUN

The term Suzani means "needlework"--specifically, the exquisite silk thread embroidery panels made by Uzbek women. Traditionally this embroidery work began at the birth of a daughter and continued, with the help of family and friends, until the bride's dowry was complete. As the Soviet era ended and Westerners discovered Central Asian folk arts, the price of old suzanis escalated. East_treasures offers you old suzani, affordably priced and in beautiful condition. Our suzani are genuine folk art, stitched by hand in the traditional manner. Once used as coverlets for the bridal bed, these gorgeous textiles can bring color and texture to any environ. Suzani make delightful wall hangings, bedspreads, furniture throws, pillows, or even tablecloths.

Finding himself in a traditional Uzbek house for the first time, a westerner will be involuntarily amazed. First of all, he will wonder at almost total lack of furniture. A patterned oriental tapis or a tufted carpet on the floor, blankets – kurpacha and pillows laid together in wall niches, a trunk decorated with engraving and a low little table khan-takhta make almost all the furniture of the room. Another important part of family life decoration is large big embroidered wall panels - suzane hanging out on the walls. Embroidery has always been important in the ornamentation of the Uzbek home. In the house every part of the wall is filled with embroidered articles of different purpose and use, ranging from small things, like pouches for combs, a mirrow (oinahalta), tea (choikhalta), to bigger items, like suzanies. Niches in the walls are covered with special embroideries (kirpech, tokchapush and choishab). Embroidered strips, zardevor, hang along the upper part of three walls - the two longitudial and one end-wall. At the time of the nuptials one can see here scull-caps and dresses of the bride which add to the decor of the room. Usually after wedding the large embroidery used as a tapestry and decorated en especial wall in a drawing room. The Suzani is very unusual and original. It doesn't look like the traditional Muslim Uzbek embroidery where exists the Islamic prohibition to represent living creatures, especial a human. It is because of the Boysun region is only one place in Uzbekistan where survived the Buddism traditions of the ancient Bakrtia. It is fully silk hand-embroidered on the silk foundation. The composition consists of the picture of two girls with deer encircled flowering bushes. The gracious deer in embracing of young stacked woman create idyll picture, close to sentimental nature of young girls, waiting for their wedding day. In each case, the mistresses give own interpretation of the subject. Sometimes, they call it "Mountain bride", sometimes identified it with personages from the famous oriental poem, "Laili and Majnun". However, it is obvious, that into modern pieces it penetrated from mythological literature - it is going back to the ancient Greek myths about Artemis and the hunter who saw her naked bathing and was turned into the deer as a punishment.

Huge decorative effect plus interesting design makes this piece of silk embroidery is real masterpiece, which has been made with skill and love. Don't miss the opportunity to own such beautiful embroidery.
