This map is taken from the 1/2500 plans and reprinted at about 14 inches to the mile, it is highly detailed and covers an area of about one and a half square miles, and shows individual houses, railway tracks, factories, churches, mills,  signal posts, pathways, sheds, wells, etc. 

It also includes historical notes of the area.

Map Details

This detailed map covers the western part of Barrow, with coverage stretching from the High Level Bridge and Cavendish Square westward to Vickerstown and Sandy Gap Lane; and from Ramsden Dock Road northward to Duke Street. Features on this busy map include the Town Hall, Covered Market and town centre streets, Barrow Flax & Jute Works, Hindpool Saw Muills, Devonshire Dock, Devonshire Bridge, tramways, Furness Railway with sidings and warehouses, Ramsden Square, Naval Construction Works, shipbuilding yard, engineering works, St John's church, Cavendish Park, many railway lines into works. Across the Walney is Vickerstown and here features include St Mary's church, James Dunn Park, tramway waiting room, Vickerstown Home Farm, King Alfred Hotel etc. Extracts from a street directory are included on the reverse.
