Up for sale here is a great looking mid century modernist abstract painting depicting what looks like a fish.  This work is an ink and charcoal painting on brown paper that is mounted on the corners to a red backing paper. The piece is then being floated inside the matte. This painting dates anywhere from the early 1950s to late 1960s.The work is under glass.  The painting on its own measures 1 1/4 inches high by 6 3/8 inches across. The total size framed comes to 5 3/4 inches by 9 5/8 inches.  The painting is signed by the artist in the lower left corner. The painting and frame are in very good condition.  This painting originally comes from the former collection of Chicago Alderman and activist Leon Despres.  Mr. Despres and his wife were noted art patrons and had a rather extensive art collection they accumulated during their lifetime so it someone could figure out the signature of this mystery artist they may have a treasure on their hands. Shipping is $14.95 in the lower 48 United States.  Illinois residents please add 7.75% for state sales tax.
