I have owned several firepits of different designes and have always been disappointed. When I found this firepit, I bought one for myself. The very first evening we had friends over, I sold two on them on the spot. This is absolutely the best firepit on the market --bar none. The top cover is a very fine mesh so large sparks don't fly out. THE CUTOUTS IN THE SIDE PROVIDE PERFECT UPWARD VENTILATION. The smoke really goes UP. It doesn't blow around sideways so you can sit close to it and get all the warmth without being bothered by smoke and sparks.
Also, if you live in an area where open fires are banned, you can still use this model, because it qualifies as a COVERED GRILL.
