Up for sale is a dressed OOAK Ashton Drake Gene doll which has been repainted by the wonderfully talented Tess Barton.
Tess actually did very few repaints that I know of. Her Mother, Marcia Cash (Traveler in Thyme) is the designer and professional seamstress who made this doll's clothing. Marcia sews period gowns for people and sells them professionally. She was able to transfer her talents to the miniature "people."
This doll is truly a work of art and a great historical treasure.
Her morning robe is made of silk velvet over her green silk chemise and silk farthingale.
The silver trim is gorgeous.
Jewelry is also made by Marcia.
The elaborate hairdo comes together in the back with a hand crocheted and beaded snood.
Shoes are decorated Kingstate blue velveteen pumps.
Underneath the gorgeous gown is a silk hooped and gathered slip of ivory silk.
She also holds a miniature violin.
Lady Capulet is painted in the subtle look of the era. High quality artist acrylic paints were used and sealed, guaranteeing many years of enjoyment. Eyes are a vivid green with applied lashes.
She was repainted and costumed in 2000. She will come with a card signed by Marcia.
She will be shipped in a generic doll box along with a Gene stand.
A special note to all buyers of our OOAK repaints. Due to the one of a kind nature, and the fact that each artist has her own special technique for various aspects of the creation, (such as hair, eyelashes, and in the case of re-roots and body switches, more or less mobility at the joints).
Please ask all questions of concern before bidding. We try and describe in detail, but cannot always determine what a collector will find undesirable. For instance, one artist may have a tendency to re-root hair in more of a thick, somewhat clumpy manner. We may find this attractive for the style, yet another may find it undesirable. Pictures do not always show up every little artistic addition.
It is our intent to neither deceive nor portray our dolls in any way but honestly. We want you to be happy! We take great pride in our customer service and quality. OOAKs are truly one of a kind, and are not always consistent with the manner in which factory dolls are constructed.
She has been stored in a smoke-free home away from light, and is from my private collection.
Buyer agrees to pay for auction within 3 days of the auction end.
We do file non-paying bidder forms if an item is not paid within required time. Please respect the fact that by winning the auction you are agreeing to a contract to pay for the item. Please do not bid if you are unable to pay. Thank you for your understanding.
This is the very beginning of a major liquidation of a life long doll collection due to an upcoming move. My initial goal was to open a doll museum. I have the most amazing dolls and accessories, many of which will be auctioned through eBay. Keep checking our auctions and store for some amazing opportunities to own some very beautiful and unique collectibles.

We accept limited international bidders, please ask us for shipping fees before purchasing.
