Description

 Strange leather covered case shaped opera glasses, circa 1910.

Would be used while appearing to still be in their case, a bit covert?  not a great plan.

Unusually, focusing is achieved with a thin,front mounted wheel, moving the objective lenses, rather than the eye pieces. 

This was obviously a innovative effort that didn't catch on and subsequently a rare lot, perhaps a prototype.

Both pairs of lenses are removable for cleaning, the objectives are housed in aluminium.

 The front and back plate are brass and have various marks, scrapes and a step (not a split) I think these were produced at the manufacturing stage.

In good sound overall condition, the leather is well marked but still good.

4,3/8" or 112mm wide x 3,1/4" or 82mm long .
